TIME ZONES

Eastern Standard Time (EST) in Queensland, NSW, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria & Tasmania.
Central Standard Time (CST-½ hr behind EST) in Northern Territory & South Australia.
Western Standard Time (WST-2 hrs behind EST) in Western Australia.
FLIGHTS: Qantas & Virgin Blue are Australia's International airlines.
VISA: All visitors need a visa, now an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). It can be issued at your local travel agents & allows you to enter Oz, as a visitor, for a stay of up to 3 months. It is valid for 1 year from the date of issue.
HEALTH VACCINATIONS: Not required unless you have come from OR visited a country infected with Yellow Fever witin the 6 days prior to arrival.
BEVERAGES: Tap water is safe to drink. Milk is pasteurised.
ELECTRICITY: 240V AC throughout Australia.
DISABLED ACCESS: Many hostels/ hotels have rooms equipped for access for disabled persons. A number of the National Parks also provide facilities enabling access for those with disabilites.

CLIMATE/SEASONS TO VISIT
DEC-FEB: the summer season
In Southern Australia the sea is warmer for swimming.
Northern Australia is hot and wet & can feel uncomfortable.
Box Jellyfish (stingers) swim around the northern MAINLAND coast in this season. However, certain areas are netted to allow swimming.
JUNE-AUG: the winter season
Northern Australia has a more comfortable temperature.
Central Australia is also cooler, but still dry and hot during the day & bitterly cold at night.
Southern Australia is colder with winter skiing in areas such as the Victorian Alps.
